Water bottle: Idea Through Process
My reason for choosing Clay Matthews flexing and Aaron Rodgers doing the 'discount double check' had to do with a couple of things. First and foremost, I'm a die hard Packer fan. Second, I didn't feel it was necessary to do another Barstool Sports logo on my water bottle after I had just done that with my notebook and the Packers were the first Wisconsin sports team to come to mind, so I guess it was just lucky them. I looked up a packers team logo that was black and white, and this was one of the first ones I saw, and once I saw it, it was love at first sight. I quickly then copy and pasted it onto Illustrator and got to work.
After I copied and pasted my image, I rotated my image 270 degrees that way it looked right on the water bottle (pictures shown below). Once I completed that, I set the logo print to the laser. Then I made sure that the rotary jig was set so the water bottle would fit tightly in there. I then checked to make the laser was set to anodized aluminum. At last, I verified that the laser was lined up with the water bottle, and then I hit play.

Notebook: Idea Through the Process
My reason for my logos came basically right away. Barstool Sports is my favorite company on earth and Basketball is my favorite sport. So I thought, why not do a Barstool Sports logo with a Basketball on the back? Not a bad idea. I also decided to put my first and last name on the notebook just in case I misplaced or lost it, somebody would know who to return it to. I thought the design turned out pretty good except for a mistakes that I had to clean, I wasn't too much of a struggle.
The first step in the process after the idea was copying and pasting my images onto Illustrator. Once that was completed, I checked to make sure that both sides were vector images and then proceeded to make art boards beforehand, that matched the dimensions of the size of the notebook that I was creating. Next, I got the images on the art boards and lined them up. Then they were ready to print. When I got to the laser, I made sure that the settings were set to mat board, that it would get engraved and cut out correctly. With my brown mat board that I selected, I lined up the laser to board and then clicked play. After the board was cut out, I used the binding machine to cut holes through the paper that I was going to use as notebook paper. Beforehand, I had made sure that the dimensions of my paper would fit in my notebook. I finally put the binding ring through the holes, and then my notebook was completed.

ThingiVerse: Idea through the Process
My reason for choosing the box in Thingiverse had to do with my struggle for finding something that would work to be cut out on a laser. I had spent a class period beforehand looking up designs and I couldn't find one that I liked. Once I found the box though, I realized that I could put my own logo on it, which then I chose Nike because I love sports and why not? Plus, I needed a box to hold small things in that I wouldn't lose, so the box ended up working out pretty nicely.
First things first, I copied and pasted my outlines onto Illustrator. Then, I made sure that the line thickness for the outside of the box was at .0001 inches and that the parts of the box weren't too close together. Next, I saved my Thingiverse to Illustrator and uploaded it to the laser printing setup. In settings, I made sure that the material for the box was form core and after that lined it up with the laser and clicked play. Once it was completed, I used some school glue to put it together and then the box was completed.

Summary
What I learned while through this rotation is how to use Illustrator very well. Throughout the process of this rotation there were a lot of challenges that arose. My patience at times was tested, whether it was how I engraved and cut out my notebook or coming up with a unique enough design for my toothbrush holder. Before I came into this assignment, I had only a little background knowledge on how Illustrator works, and my only experience was with the key chain. Now I have the confidence to be able to go on Illustrator and create my own piece knowing that I will have to ask little to no questions in order to accomplish the task. I used to hate having to do these things because of how overwhelming they are, but now I feel like I have a new found confidence for this kind of technology.
